EDITORIAL:

Getting out, finding out
Readers of Aerospace Manufacturing may have noticed the increasing number of industry seminars, conferences and exhibitions with which we are either involved or write about.

In this issue we have an official preview of the Aerospace Testing, Design & Manufacturing Expo, which has developed in line with the increasingly integrated nature of the aerospace sector, as well as a look at the JEC Composites event. Then we have an update on the new Defence & Aerospace Technology Roadshow, which tours the UK and France later in the year, and a glimpse of the programme for the ‘Composite & lightweight Structures in Aircraft’ conference being held in Germany in May.

Within News we also touch on what’s new at this year’s Farnborough Air Show, detail a ‘Composite and Advanced Materials for Manufacturers’ seminar being chaired by yours truly and invite those in industry to submit papers for presentation at the Aero- Engine Expo conference being held in Paris in October.

Rather than turning the publication into some sort of events bulletin, however, the reason for focusing on such events is that they are crucial in disseminating knowledge around the industry. In addition to presenting new technologies and the specialist behind them, these events highlight industry trends and developments that could otherwise, at best, not be found out about until a later date or, at worst, be overlooked altogether by those most likely to benefit from them. Oh, and then there’s the all important opportunity to network, of course.
