Airman Magazine, The Book 2008

Magazine - Airman Magazine

Airman Magazine, The Book 2008Into the wild new yonder.

All Airmen know this is a twist on a line from the Air Force song.

But we think our verse captures the mission of today’s Air Force. Because in a short 60 years, dedicated Airmen have done some extraordinary things. They helped perfect airpower and evolved from controlling the air to achieving total supremacy in space and cyberspace.

There’s no doubt today’s Airmen will extend that dominance throughout the next 60 years — and beyond — preserving a proud heritage.

As the Air Force jets into the sometimes unknown wild new yonder, flights of total-force Airmen will continue building on that tradition, one forged by countless sacrifices made by the men and women who served before them.

The knowledgeable, diverse, disciplined and responsible Airmen on duty now will ensure that legacy. Because they know their business and they care about integrity first, put service before self and work hard to excel at all they do.

America expects no less.

Without its growing fleet of unmanned aircraft, the Air Force would not be as effective. It's why Predators, Reapers and Global Hawks are in such demand on the battlefield.

Airman Magazine is published bi-monthly by the Air Force News Agency for the Secretary of the Air Force Office of Public Affairs. As the official magazine of the U.S. Air Force, it is a medium of information for Air Force people.

Readers may submit articles, photographs and artwork. The Airman staff welcomes suggestions and criticisms.
