Special Report
Tomato Lycopene For Heart Health
Food fortified with tomato lycopene can offer benefits to cardiovascular health in the aging population.

A report published in Atherosclerosis in 2003 states that growing urbanization and industrialization in Asia is leading to a concomitant rise in the serum total cholesterol (TC) levels, which will inevitably result to a rise in coronary heart disease (CHD). It says Singapore has showed a rise of serum TC similar to the US and the UK between the 1950s and the 1980’s. Deaths due to CHD are still running high in the country, which is comparable to rates found in the Western countries.
