Google Inc. 2005 Annual Report
An annual report is a document which a company presents to its Annual General Meeting for approval by its shareholders. The report normally includes a profit and loss account and balance sheet, as well as a directors' report and an auditor's report. In the case of larger companies, it is usually a sleek, colorful, high gloss publication.
The details provided in the report are of use to investors in gaining an understanding of the company's financial position and future direction.
In the United States, a more-detailed version of the report, called a Form 10-K, is submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Democracy in America
By Alexis De Tocqueville
"No better study of a nation's institutions and culture than Tocqueville's Democracy in America has ever been written by a foreign observer; none perhaps as good." --The New York Times
In the mid-1800s, a French political scientist named Alexis de
Tocqueville came to the United States to appraise the meaning and
functioning of democracy. This extraordinary book, written as a result
of his visit, contains his comments and criticisms-many of which are
still vital in today's world-and is a must-read for anyone interested
in American politics.
