BE ON THE SEA
A rocky start on the high seas may just be the way to help you appreciate all that cruising has to offer. Laine Lister discovers paradise in the Pacific

Perched on a day bed, concentrating hard to talk myself out of another belly flip, I fix my eyes on the calm blue horizon. According to my companions, who have ditched me for another day of boozing and bronzing, looking to the horizon will ease my troubled tummy.

Having swallowed half a packet of seasick medicine, and contemplated jumping overboard, I sit, decked out in my grey travel calm wristbands watching bikiniclad women, carrying plates of lobster, enjoy the salty air and sunshine.

But despite my enthusiasm by 10pm I’m on the brink of breaking point, so I drag my dolled-up self to the ships’ hospital and instruct the nurse to give me the strongest drugs available. Relief comes in the form of a big needle and a comfy bed, to which I retire for the night, while my friends boogie beneath the star-studded sky. ...
