TOTAL ECLIPSE It was six years ago that IBM kicked off a project designed to create an open-source environment for Java developers. Since that time, Eclipse has grown well beyond its initial goals, into everything from tooling to team development to modeling. Three years ago, it broke off from IBM to become an independent entity.
