FAA Aviation News, September/October 2009

Monday, 14 September 2009

FAA Aviation News, September/October 2009, free digital magazine, pdf format.Published six times a year, FAA Aviation News is the safety policy voice for the non-commercial general aviation community. The magazine's objective is to improve safety by:

  • making the community aware of FAA resources
  • helping readers understand safety and regulatory issues, and
  • encouraging continued training

FAA Aviation News feature articles are developed thematically, based on flying season, key aviation events, and resources the FAA can offer to improve flying knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

Among its recurring features, the magazine includes an “Aeromedical Advisory” column, because flying safely is inextricably linked to good health. Another regular column, “Nuts, Bolts, & Electrons,” covers maintenance issues. The “Hot Spots” column seeks to raise awareness and educate pilots on enforcement and special emphasis areas, such as pilot deviations and runway safety practices.

In addition, FAA Aviation News works closely with the FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) and provides news updates that are posted on www.faasafety.gov and distributed to FAASTeam subscribers.

The Federal Aviation Act of 1958 created the group under the name "Federal Aviation Agency", and adopted its current name in 1967 when it became a part of the United States Department of Transportation.
