H2O Magazine, January/February 2008H2O magazine: fitness & wellness for women.

Foolproof Resolutions ... page 54
by avoiding these common mistakes
The champagne has stopped flowing, the ball has dropped, and – if you're like many women – the next tradition on the list is making a New Year's resolution to shape up once and for all. Unfortunately, many well-intentioned women are poised to drop that ball, too: According to the American College of Sports Medicine, more than half of those who begin a health and fitness plan at the start of the new year throw in the towel within three to six months. The reason? They get sidelined by roadblocks along the path to fitness....

10 Top Diets ... page 56
and what they’re all about
Chances are, one of your New Year's resolutions is to lose weight. In fact, at any one time, 45 percent of American women are dieting. Unfortunately, a National Institutes for Health study confirms that 97 percent of people who lose weight wind up gaining it all back within five years. So why do we spend $40 billion a year on weight loss and dieting? It's all about the quick fix. You gotta look good for the wedding, swimsuit season, or that high school reunion coming up. It's called short-term thinking, and, well, it's just how we operate sometimes....

Who's That Girl

Name:  Andrea Fors

Age:   27

Hometown:  Atlanta, Georgia

How long have you lived there?:   I'm a Georgia native! I was born and raised in Atlanta and went to the University of Georgia. With the exception of living in Key Largo for a year, I've pretty much been here my entire life.

Competition highlights::   I am a Professional Aerialist, so I perform rather than compete, but performing at a resort in Jamaica was definitely a highlight and also one of the most memorable occasions.

Marital Status:   Not married, but in a relationship.

Pets:   Not any at the moment. I had a Labrador retriever for 16 years and it will be very hard to fill her shoes (paws). However, I hope to get another dog sometime soon.

Favorite foods:  Fresh-caught seafood, artichokes, and fresh berries.

Favorite exercise in the Gym:  Pull-ups and Pilates

Favorite exercise outside of the Gym:   I love working out and creating new pieces on the aerial equipment. Not only is it physically challenging, but it's creative, fun, and often like a puzzle that has endless possibilities.

Hobbies:   Traveling, being outdoors, hiking, watersports of any kind, cooking, spending time with loved ones.

Favorite Cheat Meal:  Mexican food

Something you still aspire to accomplish:   Part of me still aspires to work for a major production company or show traveling around the world performing.

Plans for the future:   Continue performing for a while longer and eventually I would love to choreograph and train other aerialists for major shows and productions.
