How Much Is My Web Site Worth?Overview on how to establish the value of an Internet Business

Web sites can be bought and sold just like any other piece of property, and can have a valuation just like their brick-and-mortar business counterparts, or jewelry and art.

What is needed, however, is a systematic method to place a value on Internet companies because traditional valuation processes do not always apply. This book gives a comprehensive overview of the process that explains how to establish the worth for your Internet Company.

There are three primary reasons to have your business valued:

  1. You want to monitor the performance and growth of your company.
  2. You need financial support to grow the business and financial capital from some source other than yourself.
  3. You want to sell your business.

What you will learn is:

4. How to place a systematic value on your Internet Company
5. Most Internet Businesses are really niche market businesses.
6. How niche markets are 200,000 to 700,000 potential reachable customers.
7. How the numbers of visitors to your web site impacts the value of your business.
8. There are two types of parameters needed to measure the worth.
9. There are absolute parameters like unique visitors and net income.
10. There are arbitrary parameters like web site design and programming that you will need specialized knowledge to know the values.
11. That the arbitrary parameters are very important to the analysis process.
12. How these two types of parameters are consolidated into a powerful business worth valuation.
13. How to pull the data together into an understandable analysis that has meaning to investors.
14. You will be able to evaluate most small Internet businesses in a short period of time when you know what parameters to use and have developed Internet experience.

Interesting post. The valuation of websites is part art and part science. While traditional valuation methods should be employed when valuing a website that produces income, additional factors that are specific to websites should also be take into account. There is a great website valuation tool here http://www.websitebroker.com/valuation.php and several articles about website valuations here http://www.websitebroker.com/resources.html.
