EDITOR’S MESSAGE: Today’s Thriving Car Wash Industry

As the new editor of Octane magazine, it was a pleasure to meet many of you at the 2007 Convenience U CARWACS Show in Toronto on March 7th and 8th this past spring.

Although this was my first time in attendance, it’s clear that the Canadian car wash industry is very fortunate to have a yearly event such as the Convenience U CARWACS Show. In an amazing feat, Fulcrum Events manages to pull together so many of the industry players, develop informative and educational seminars, and provide excellent opportunities for synergies between car wash, petroleum, and convenience all under one convenient roof.

Like a one-stop shopping centre, the Convenience U CARWACS Show gives car wash operators an opportunity to learn about the many challenges their industry faces today and how to realistically address those challenges. Operators can talk directly to manufacturers and suppliers and get information straight from the horse’s mouth. As well, operators also get a chance to have informal chats with their peers to learn what works and what doesn’t work for them.

The car wash industry is by no means stagnant. Not only is it extremely expensive to invest in and operate a car wash today but operators need to be constantly aware of the challenges its industry faces so they can quickly adapt to them to keep their businesses growing and profitable.

Octane magazine is Canada’s car wash industry’s one-stop magazine. We will keep you informed of all the latest challenges, as well as new equipment, products, and chemicals. We will show you how to make wise investments, operate your facility efficiently, and hopefully answer all of those questions you were always afraid to ask. Always with the operator’s perspective in mind.

I look forward to meeting many more of you throughout the year while I embark on my new journey as editor of Canada’s national car wash and petroleum magazine.
