About Shanghai Daily

Founded by Wenhui-Xinmin United Press Group on October 1, 1999, Shanghai Daily is an English-language newspaper supervised by the Foreign Publicity Office of the Shanghai CPC Committee and the Press Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government.

After seven years of persistent development, Shanghai Daily, which was initially published five days a week, is now published six days a week. The edition has also upgraded from an eight-page broadsheet format to a 48-page compact format, becoming the most informative domestic English daily.

As a platform of Shanghai's foreign publicity, Shanghai Daily has a team of skilled editors and reporters, who are proficient at English. Shanghai Daily employs nearly 20 senior foreign journalism professionals as experts.

Since its founding, Shanghai Daily has been making every effort to report timely and exactly, to keep updated layouts, idiomatic English and vivid pictures and to maintain a fine print effect. These aspects grant the newspaper popularity among foreigners who have stayed in the city for a long time, as well as those foreigners coming to Shanghai for purposes of study, travel or business. Shanghai Daily has become their indispensable information source.

Shanghai Daily unveiled a new format and launched its Website on October 8, 2005. The feedback from readers and the market has proven that it is a big success.
