Hello Hamptons! (A Letter from the Publisher)

We’re delighted and honored to have had a rare opportunity to interview and photograph Donald Trump and his three eldest at their childhood home. At that time, Don Jr. and his wife Vanessa were a bit more than a month away from becoming first-time parents. Just as Social Affairs was going to print, Don gave us some unexpected good news: 6-lb, 14-oz KiaMadison made her debut two weeks earlier than expected. In fact, as Operation Smile’s chairs, Don and Vanessa were up front and center at its annual event on May 11th when Vanessa went into labor.

More good news. As we grow—so does our distribution. We’ve now added the Hamptons to ensure our loyal

readers can keep up with Social Affairs all summer long. For this appropriately-themed Hamptons issue, we had the good fortune to catch up with a few “Hamptonians.” Katrina and Don Peebles, between book signings for his latest book release, The Peebles Principles that included Don’s hometown, Washington, D.C., to talk about their latest acquisition in the Hamptons.

To celebrate Father’s Day, we interviewed four dads and their offspring—Simon Cruz, Pepe Cancio, Tibor Hallo and Nino Pernetti. Each one at the height of their professional successes— they all continue to make their children their number one priority. And of course, I am honoring my loving husband. Luis… you are truly a very special father who loves his three daughters unconditionally every day of the year…and though I sometimes tell you that sometimes, too much … I know dads can’t help but spoil their little girls. Danielle, Cristina and Alessandra send you extra love and kisses for Father’s Day.

The kickoff Starfish Awards dinner that Diane and Allen DeOlazarra so graciously hosted in May was an astounding
success, raising over $180,000 for Jackson Cancer Care. I see our Starfish recipients around town sporting their brooches with great pride and joy, or in Paul DiMare’s case, his cufflinks! Check out the August/September issue of Social Affairs which will feature lots of details and photographs of this very special event.

A grand bon voyage to all our readers as we get ready to set sail for the UnitedWay Mayor’s Ball cruise this Friday.
