Magazine - The American Spectator

The American Spectator, February 2007, Asiaing.comThe American Spectator is a conservative U.S. monthly magazine covering news and politics, edited by R. Emmett Tyrrell Jr. and published by the non-profit American Spectator Foundation. From its founding in 1967 until the late 1980s, the small-circulation magazine featured the writings of authors such as Thomas Sowell, Tom Wolfe, P.J. O'Rourke, George F. Will, Patrick J. Buchanan, Alex Linder and Malcolm Muggeridge, although today the magazine is best known for its attacks in the 1990s on Bill Clinton and its "Arkansas Project" to discredit the president, funded by billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife and the Bradley Foundation. On This Issue: WRONGLY MISTAKING CHINA: Preoccupied with the War on Terror, the U.S. has overlooked the emergence of a market-authoritarian model that is finding more adherents in the world than market-democracy.

FAITH OF OUR FATHERS: Part I of a special three-part series, “The Christian History of the Constitution,” which examines the eradication of religious values from American life since our country’s founding.

THE NATION-STATE AND DEMOCRACY: One can’t go without the other, one reason why the United States, a nation-state par excellence, and Europe, which has taken on an undemocratic, transnational coloring, are no longer on the same page—but also why Iraq, which is not a nation-state, won’t become a democracy.
