What might you find? Primordial soup. Strange beings. Alien societies. Profound wisdom. These are not the questions Jon Gruber ponders as he pedals to his next carpentry job. Over thirty, unmarried, he doesn't even own a car. But a new assignment challenges him to rethink his place in the world. Is he a loser? Or is he about to become a partner in an experiment of phenomenal discovery? Webster Adams, Jon's client, astronomer, inventor, performs such an experiment. To Webster's amazement, he finds planets and cultures beyond his wildest dreams. His little universe turns into a discovery machine - an overnight goldmine. He and his crew observe societies that evolve so far past them on levels of technology and spirituality, that the world will be forever changed.Webster's lovely daughter, Whitney, also overwhelms Jon. She opens his eyes to the deeper meanings within the experiment - to the divine nature and connectedness of all life, by finding the most advanced beings within the project - the spirit guides from Theta 7. The Big Bang is a God-game at multiple levels. For Webster Adams, one question immediately comes to light. "If I can create a universe," he wonders, "then who created ours?" The debate between evolution and creation is the subtle undertone throughout Webster's story. Can it be proven that God exists? Or is life a random, free-flowing evolution with no design? Along with Jon, you, the reader, will be presented a new perspective on life and your role in the great mystery of the universe. Paperback: 300 pages Questions and Topics for Discussion 2. The author was motivated by all the things you might find if you had a universe at your fingertips. Do you think he did a good job with this idea? Because the answers are limitless, what else of interest might you find that was not covered in the story? 3. Have you ever experienced something so amazingly coincidental, that it appeared to be utterly impossible that it was just a coincidence? If so, does this alone support the argument that there must be a God? 4. The author chose Adams’ name for a reason. It sounds like “atoms”, which is the fuel for the project. It also reminds us of Adam, the biblical creation of man. Do you think the author did a good job of bringing science and religion together in hopes of finding a common ground? Would you classify the book as being more sciency or more spiritual? 5. There are several possible sequels to the story. These include; Jim’s Life as a boy in Australia in 2150AD, what happens to Jon, Whitney and Jessica etc. and their planet afterwards, Adams’ future lifetime with Rose. Which sequel sounds most interesting to you? 6. This is clearly a work of fiction that has many outrageous occurrences within it. Which events do you find the hardest to believe? Which ones the easiest? A partial list includes; Jim’s having a conscience, the simulation actually working, Whitney’s becoming a medium for the Thetans through meditation, the Akashic records, Thetans living to be many thousands of years, Thetans moving their planet, healing by touch, the inventions from the project being duplicated by Maxwell Enterprises, finding Mara on Earth without specific directions. Any others? 7. Early on, Rose bets Adams that somehow, someway she will convince him that there must be a God. Do you think she won this bet? Can you imagine another way that might have had the desired result? If so, how would you prove to someone that God must exist? 8. Planets Alpha, Theta, Delta and Omega all represent possible futures for planet Earth? Though fictional places, how likely might Earth end up like some of these planets? Which ones are more probable, which are less probable? 9. It is the author’s intention that Jon, Whitney and Jessica are metaphors for humankind and choices. If Jon represents humankind, Whitney spirituality and Jessica technology and advancement, can you see the dilemma Jon faces when trying to choose between the two of them? What are the pros and cons of each choice? Would the Earth be a better place if more people were like Whitney or Jessica? What do you envision will happen to these characters in their future? 10. Adams believes that he and Rose are soul mates. If soul mates exist, and if reincarnation exists, then do you believe it is acceptable for soul mates to experience marriages with others? Can a person have more than one soul mate? ABOUT THE AUTHOR He originally wrote The Big Bang as a screenplay under the title The Universe Generator, envisioning the story as a motion picture.
