           About the National Academies

"The challenges that America faces do not lend themselves to overnight fixes.
Achieving these goals will require a multiyear commitment from a broad range of people working together — including scientists, engineers, health professionals, educators, politicians, and industry leaders. The Academies stand ready to help as the nation addresses these complex issues. "

The National Academies perform an unparalleled public service by bringing together committees of experts in all areas of scientific and technological endeavor. These experts serve pro bono to address critical national issues and give advice to the federal government and the public.
