Human Resources technology decisions are driven by a need to access information and report on it meaningfully. There are three major trends that present some daunting tasks for HR departments. However, each can be reasonably managed with the right technology, like an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system that can tie the information in different systems together and keep control of it through its lifecycle. Human Resources may be considered the “warm and fuzzy” department in an organization, but when it comes to technology, it is quite serious. According to the CedarCrestone 2010-2011 HR Systems Survey, 71 percent of respondents plan to implement new HR systems in the next year. Technology decisions are being driven by a need to access information and report on it meaningfully. The following three trends present some daunting tasks for HR departments. Knowing where data resides, how to report on it and how to quickly and effectively access the supporting documentation allows HR professionals to focus on more important tasks. Leadership, strategy and business value can replace tracking and filing documents when data is centralized and systems are integrated. An ECM system will not only make an organization more efficient, it also will secure sensitive information, while making it easily available to authorized users when it is needed.
