Time Magazine is running an article called "China Takes on the World" in its latest issue, whose cover features a bright, golden star rising from the Great Wall and the headline, "Dawn of a New Dynasty."

Time is absolutely right: this will be China's century. But the media's indefatiguable enthusiasm for making these kinds of proclamations.

If you're a sinophile (which I wager you might be if you are reading this site), the article might not tell you anything you didn't already know, but it's a great primer for anyone wanting to understand China's role in the world, what it wants, what it fears, and how to work with the world's next superpower.
