FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK

My one year term as President of USA Archery will come to a close this August. Many of the plans I had for our organization have come about. We balanced our budget and increased our office productivity in order to keep our programs going. We have begun to look at every program through a business model to strengthen our financial picture in the future. The progress has been much slower than I had expected, and much of my vision for the future of USA Archery has not been realized.

We will begin the next year with a new Board of Directors elected by constituent groups. These new directors will be joined by several independent directors to bring an outside viewpoint into our organization. It is my hope that the new board with representatives from our Coach, Judge, JOAD and College leaders, will move USA Archery forward to be a greater organization, providing better opportunities, increased communication and more services to all of our members. I look forward to a bigger, stronger USA Archery. I hope that many of the plans I set into motion will continue as we move towards the 2008 Olympics and beyond.

I would like to thank the Staff for their tremendous efforts during this time of great changes, and the entire Board of Governors for their support. I feel that this Board was one of the most diverse, yet most progressive, that we have ever had. We were nearly always unanimous in out decisions regarding the direction of USA Archery. They provided excellent representation for you, the membership.

Farewell,
Lloyd Brown
The Last President, USA Archery
