Why your Firewall, VPN, and IEEE 802.11i Aren't Enough to Protect Your NetworkLike any network technology, wireless local area networks (WLANs) need to be protected from security threats.

Though recent developments in IEEE standards have been designed to help ensure privacy for authenticated WLAN users, WLAN clients and enterprise infrastructure can still be vulnerable to a variety of threats that are unique to WLANs.

Mischievous hackers may try to attack the network, or a negligent employee may create a security breach that leaves the corporate WLAN or a client device vulnerable to attack. These threats cannot be mitigated by traditional fi rewall technologies and virtual private networks (VPNs), nor eliminated through encryption and authentication mechanisms used in conventional enterprise network security systems.

With a comprehensive approach to WLAN security, an intrusion detection and prevention system (IDS/IPS) for WLANs adds to IEEE standards-based technology and wired network security mechanisms. An IDS/IPS specifi cally designed for WLANs addresses the risks associated with this networking technology.

Virtual Private Network proxy has become a much promising service for the most pat of the Internet users. The used shared network infrastructure lets a secure access between 2 networks. Thus the user is being able to securely connect remotely to his corporate network. Fantastic! I adore it!

If you need an all in one solution then I would look at something like unified threat managment also known as a UTM.Cyberoam firewall is the only UTM firewall that embeds user identity in firewall rule matching criteria, enabling enterprises to configure policies and identify users directly by the username rather than through IP addresses. Cyberoam’s powerful hardware firewall provides stateful and deep packet inspection, access control, user authentication, network and application-level protection.

The ICSA-certified Cyberoam firewall is available along with VPN, gateway anti-virus and anti-spyware, gateway anti-spam, intrusion prevention system, content filtering, bandwidth management and multiple link management, providing comprehensive security to small, medium and large enterprises, including remote and branch offices. Cyberoam is a Check Mark Level 5 certified UTM solution.

Key Features

1.Stateful Inspection Firewall
2.Centralized management for multiple security features
3.Embeds user identity in rule-matching criteria
4.Multiple zone security
5.Granular IM, P2P controls
6.ICSA certified
